CHRISTMAS ANGELS MINISTRY

The Christmas Angels Gift Ministry is an annual charitable ministry designed to help Haywood County families who have school-age children and need assistance acquiring holiday gifts for their families. Every year in October, families are brought to us through the Haywood County School system, Head Start, and Haywood County's two soup kitchens to register their needs. Haywood County Schools is the lead agency for all Christmas gift programs and screens each application. Early in the school year, school counselors send a letter home with the students addressed to parents that mention if they need help on Christmas purchasing presents, to contact the counselor. Those requests are then sent to the counselor in charge of holiday assistance for the county, who sends out flyers listing the county's organizations that assist. Long’s Chapel is one of three that do this. We give gifts to ALL children in a household, from birth to 17.

HOW CHRISTMAS ANGELS PROCESS WORKS

1.Families are brought to us from Haywood County Schools, Head Start, and Haywood County's two soup kitchens.

2.Registration days are set, and families create "wish lists" for their children.

3.Long's Chapel members and community are able to adopt children and provide what they are able from their wish lists.

4.Wish lists are brought back to the church, and families can pick up their children's gifts or have them delivered to their homes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is there a limit to what I buy or how much I spend?

A: No! You can buy as much as you can comfortably afford.   The Christmas Angels Team suggests a maximum gift range of $50-75.  Remember, this is just what it says, a “Wish List.”  You may also want to go in with a friend or co-worker to purchase gifts for the child you “adopt.”  We suggest that groups consider adopting multiple children of the family to ensure equal distribution and blessing of gifts.

Q: Do I need to wrap these gifts?

A: Yes! Please wrap each gift, and make sure that each gift has a tag with the child’s first name and “LC #” as listed on the Wish List.  This number will be significant.  PLEASE DO NOT PLACE THE WISH LISTS ON ANY PACKAGE.  Please tie, bag, or box together multiple gifts so they will not become separated.

Q: Can I deliver my own gifts to the child I adopted?

A: Yes, we want you to do this; however, all gifts still need to be checked in on December 11.
