What is the latest with COVID & Long's Chapel?

On November 10, Governor Cooper announced that beginning Friday, November 13 through December 4, mass indoor gatherings are limited to 10 persons. Included in the Executive Order were exemptions for "Worship, religious, spiritual gatherings, wedding ceremonies, funerals, and other First Amendment activities."

For Long's Chapel, this means that small gatherings can continue to meet and exceed that 10-person limit threshold, though we do strongly encourage very careful observance of safe social distancing guidelines when doing so.

ALL ON-CAMPUS meetings/classes must be scheduled on the calendar through Lynn Carpenter. Facility use requests must be submitted via THIS LINK. A confirmation email will be sent once the meeting has been approved and scheduled on the calendar. For questions, please contact Lynn.Carpenter@LongsChapel.com.

These guidelines include:

  • Stay at least six feet apart when gathering in-person.

  • Wear a cloth mask over your mouth and nose at all times

  • Wash your hands frequently

  • Stay home if you are experiencing any symptoms of illness or consider yourself high risk.

  • Keep attendance for contact tracing purposes

  • Consider downloading the SlowCOVIDNC app on your smartphone

  • Stay informed. Information is available through the State of NC and the CDC

Some groups outside of Long's Chapel missions and ministries will be affected by this and have been notified accordingly. We want to extend an invitation to continue meeting on campus or to begin/continue meeting virtually for small groups. We will do everything that we can to facilitate your gathering, including providing a ZOOM login and technical assistance as needed. We thank you for following CDC guidelines when you do meet in person. For questions or assistance related to meeting virtually, please email our Director of Digital Discipleship, Joey Webb, at Joey.Webb@LongsChapel.com

Worship will continue to meet at 10:00 am on Sunday mornings with the strict observance of all recommended guidelines to prevent the potential spread of COVID-19. Guidelines for Worship include:

  • WAIT at least six feet apart when gathering in-person.

  • SIT with only yourself or your household unit. Please allow ushers to assist you in seating and dismissal to ensure proper social distancing

  • WEAR a cloth mask over your mouth and nose at all times.

  • NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINK inside the Sanctuary. Water bottles are available for consumption past the restrooms, near the Venue.

  • WASH your hands frequently and use the available sanitizer stations.

  • Allow our worship leaders to guide you to sing in your heart, or at most very quietly as if singing a lullaby to a baby.

  • If you are exhibiting any symptoms, or consider yourself to be high risk, we invite you to worship from the comfort of your home with one of our online streaming options, or from your car on 103.9FM. Please stay home if you are experiencing any symptoms of illness.

  • You will receive a contact card as you enter. Please fill this out during the service and return it as you leave, along with any offering, to the baskets located on the tables outside the Sanctuary. This helps us with contact tracing in the event it becomes necessary.

  • On Communion Sundays you will be provided with packaged take-home communion as you leave the service.

Our live streams at 9:00 am, 10:10 am, and 11:11 am will continue to be produced for those who want to worship with us in their homes.  We also continue to stream to 103.9FM if you'd like to worship from your vehicle.
