Long's Chapel Child Enrichment Center is a ministry of Long's Chapel that seeks to reflect the highest christian values and the best of care for children. The CEC began in 1965, and in the first year enrolled 35 children into the church-operated weekly kindergarten program. Now, Long's Chapel CEC enrolls over 100 children throughout the year. The CEC has a strong history of embodying the mission of introducing age appropriate curriculum while nurturing the development of faith.

Our curriculum is based on the development of the children. We do a variety of activities in our day, including: sensory, social/emotional, cognitive, fine/large motor, music/language, creative and science. We also feature an anti-bias curriculum which teaches children to respect their own culture, as well as that of others and encourages children to experience people of diverse cultures working together as unique parts of a whole community. Along with our anti-bias curriculum we use the word "friends" to get the attention of our class instead of "guys" and we address the teachers as Miss, Ms., or Mr.

NC PreK Program - The NC PreK Program is designed to provide high-quality educational experiences to enhance school readiness for eligible four-year-old children. The NC PreK Program requirements are built on the National Education Goals Panel’s premise that to be successful academically in school, children need to be prepared in all five of the developmental domains that are critical to children’s overall well-being and success in reading and math as they enter school. Those focused program methods include play and learning, emotional and social development, health and physical development, language development and communication, and cognitive development. For your child to qualify he/she must have turned four on or before August 31 of the program year. NC PreK students will attend the CEC from 8:00 am-3:00 pm daily, with additional care options available from 3:00-6:00 pm if needed. READ THE FULL PRESS RELEASE

She has her Master’s in Elementary Education from Montreat College. She was looking for a way to find her next calling to serve children and this community.

On a personal note, Belinda is married and has two daughters. Her oldest daughter, Mekayla, recently graduated from Tusculum University and is now a Trauma ICU nurse at Mission. Her youngest daughter, Tracy, is seventeen and is a senior at Tuscola High School. Her husband, Steve, is an accountant at Western Carolina University. We love Long’s Chapel CEC because of the warm, caring, and compassionate environment that each classroom holds. We are greeted by welcoming, bright, and happy faces from teachers and staff each morning when we arrive which makes our boys feel valued, loved, and cared for. Our boys love their teachers because of the engaging activities and consistency that is provided daily. We can't say enough wonderful things about our experience with Longs Chapel! Wakefield is especially excited for the new playground to be finished with the CEC expansion!

“The time our son has been at the CEC has been such a blessing. Each day we are greeted with a smile by Belinda and facility members and they all go out of their way to make Jack feel welcome and to make sure he’s well taken care of for all of his needs. We couldn’t be happier to be a part of the Long’s Chapel CEC family!
