Worship at Long's Chapel
We are delighted to have you as our guest, hope you will find the grace of Jesus Christ, and the kindness and gentleness of His people here. In addition to three Sunday morning services, we offer other opportunities for all ages to learn about and worship Our Savior. We hope that you will explore these and the other opportunities offered as you "Come home to Long's Chapel".
Long's Chapel offers a variety of Bible studies and classes throughout the week. On Sunday mornings, we offer classes at 8:30. 9:45 and 11:00 a.m. Disciple Bible Study is offered each year for all adults. Come and be a part of this spiritual movement.
A wonderful music and arts program awaits you at Long’s Chapel UMC. At the center of our music program are our choirs. The Chancel Choir, who sing at the 11:00 service, is a growing and vibrant group of adults who love to worship the Lord through music. Our Praise Ensemble is a choral group that loves to sing and worship the Lord with a more contemporary style of music. They sing at the 8:20 and 9:40 services. Participation in the Praise Band is by audition. If you play an instrument, dance or if you are an actor or artist and are interested in using your gifts in worship, please contact Caroline Merrell.
We proudly support the Methodist tradition of serving others, and we believe that service provides the most meaningful moments of life. The Open Door Kitchen prepares meals for the hungry. Small groups throughout the church touch many more people with gifts and services through out the year.
On Wednesday nights during the academic year, we provide food, fun and fellowship for our whole church family in the Fellowship Hall. Dinner is served followed by varied optional programs for adults and children, with child care provided for pre-schoolers. One of the programs offered is called Oasis. Dr. Evelyn Laycock leads an exploration of our bible and our faith. For available classes/program information call the church office or pick up an Acts 2:42 program brochure in the Welcome Center.
A warm welcome awaits you and your child in the Long’s Chapel Nurseries. Silent pagers are provided for parents who feel a need to be reached. The nursery staff is provided each Sunday morning and Wednesday evening during midweek for infants and children through three years of age. Elementary children and for children in pre-K through 5th grades, we offer an extensive well rounded program of Christian worship and musical opportunities. This program includes Sunday school classes, choirs, worship experiences in “Children’s Church”, Vacation Bible School, midweek programs, Advent, Easter and other festivals for fun and service in our community.
Wonderful programs are offered for children each weekday at Long’s Chapel. Our Pre-K program provides year round half-day instruction and full-day care by an educated and Christ-centered staff devoted to loving and teaching your child. We also offer an after-school program for children ages 5-12 years old with transportation provided from Clyde and Junaluska Elementary. A summer school age program is also available. This program includes full day care filled with music, art, swimming and growing in fellowship with Christ! Come grow with us! For more information call 452-7574.
Youth Ministry
We reach out to youth in middle school and high school with the love and message of Jesus Christ, while providing a place for them to grow socially and in His spirit. Our adult leadership team work to ensure that kids can begin to know God on an adult level, surrounding them with support and a nurturing group to help carry them through difficult adolescent years. Programs for senior high youth and middle school youth are dynamic. Sunday school and weekly Bible study groups provide meaningful Christian education. Retreats, mission trips and service opportunities round out a wonderful slate of opportunities for youth at Long’s Chapel UMC.
