30 Hour Famine is an international youth movement to fight hunger. It will bring our group closer together and to God, feed hungry children, and change our world forever. Come and experience just a taste of what far too many of our world’s kids go through every single day!
Hey everyone, Revolution Youth will be joining the fight to end world hunger by getting up and doing something about it. Here is your chance to be a part of something incredible as we not only raise awareness about the current conditions of starving kids in many places of this world and money to help them but to get a glimpse of what it must be like to go without food for 30 hours!
We are teaming up with our good friend Steve Roath and his youth group from Temple Baptist. They will meet us here at Longs Chapel this year. The Famine is set for Friday April the 3rd- Saturday the 4th. The famine will begin on Friday at 6am and will end at 12pm on Saturday followed by a huge lunch! This year we will be having the Famine at our church and will be using the Fellowship Hall, Underground, and Venue. There we will mix the groups up and play all sorts of interactive games that will help teach us what it is really like to be a child in a developing country as well as have times of worship and teaching and fun! All you have to do is sign up to come, raise money for each hour you do not eat, and pray that God opens your heart up to this experience. THIS IS FOR EVERYBODY! Even if you are under a strict diet or under certain physical limitations that require you to eat food, we can accommodate you!

There is NO cost to this event and you do not begin fundraising until after the event. All you need to bring is a pillow and sleeping bag (we will be sleeping this year), a water bottle, and a great attitude and willingness to learn about a whole new culture without ever leaving our country! We will provide water, fruit juices and snack bars during the event and of course we will end with a celebration of a lot of food at the end!

Middle School Retreat

Hey all our Revolution youth in 6th-8th grade! Our retreat is finally here, and we are heading off to Camp Thunderbird at Lake Wylie (near Charlotte)April 24th-26th to meet up with tons of other Methodist Middle School Youth. Below is all the information you will need and paperwork that needs to be filled out in order to go on this trip. The cost is $100 and checks can be made payable to Long's Chapel UMC. Financial help is available upon request and we are currently having a fundraiser in which kids can earn money towards this trip. All youth will need to have filled out a church medical release form (on our youth front web page) in addition to the release form contained in this packet.
Everyone will need to meet up at the church on Friday April 24th by 3:30pm in order for us to make it to the camp in time for registration. We will be taking 15 passenger vans and pulling a trailer to carry our gear. Friends are more than welcome to attend this event! All participants will need to bring food money for our dinner stop on Friday and our lunch stop on Sunday as well as the additional money required in the "What to Bring" list in the forms below. A deposit for this trip is due now in the amount of $25 and will go towards the final balance. For more information, contact Shawn at 456-3993 ext. 13!
