Visitation/Welcome Team

Individuals are identified from the attendance sheets as 1st time visitors. A team from Long’s Chapel makes a personal visit with our gift thanking them for attending Long’s Chapel, or calls the 1st time visitor and meets with them at the church the following Sunday. Repeat visitors are contacted again with a phone call or note card inviting them to the next New Member Orientation. 

                                    New Member Sponsor

To aid the assimilation of new members into the Long's Chapel family, current members  mentor new members over 12 months to make sure that their spiritual development program is initiated. This is done by a phone call or meeting at the church, asking if they are finding everything they need, or do they have any questions or concerns.  It is the role of the sponsor to help the new member mesh their talents and needs with the church.

                            New Member Orientation

Classes are held 3 or 4 times a year for people who have been attending Long’s Chapel and now want to find out more about Long’s Chapel as well as those who now want to become members of our church family. Volunteers help organize, set up the facility and put together the materials for the class.

Publicity

This group promotes Long's Chapel through signs, billboards, news paper articles, and community events, such as Christmas Parades, Apple Festival, etc. They design & maintain a welcome/information packet which describes the Long’s Chapel United Methodist Church experience.
