Faith Development
This program is an expression of the mission of Long’s Chapel United Methodist Church. As such it recognizes the responsibility of choosing age appropriate curriculum for the development of faith. The example of Christian living is offered to children through the kindness and sensitivity of a caregiver’s gentle touch. We recognize the unique giftedness of each child (God’s creation) and seek to help each child know the giver of this gift. We offer the opportunity for prayer and praise through the weekly chapel and classroom experience. Teachers pray with their classes and model the example of Christian living.
The Pinnacle curriculum, which is centered on monthly themes with weekly unit themes, is used in our pre-school program. This curriculum assists teachers with program planning that encourages children to develop their emerging skills in all developmental areas. It is designed to provide activities for both group time and the learning areas, so that teachers have an abundance of ideas for providing a stimulating environment for the children. The activities meet learning objectives that help children move toward their potential as they explore the materials and activities in the classroom. The activities also challenge children's creativity and provide a social/recreational outlet as they interact.

Pre-school activities include outdoor play, art, cooking, sand-play, science, housekeeping, rice table, language, music, numbers and counting, story time, finger-plays, building with blocks, sand and water table, outdoor water play, chapel, and much more. These activities are designed to develop muscle motor skills and coordination, social skills, learning, and to build self confidence.
We also offer a food program. We have an Educational Nutritional Coordinator who provides us with a hot breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack. All of this is included in the tuition price.

To attend pre-school, a child must be 3 to 5 years of age and potty trained.
Our registration for the fall is in the month of March. Applications may be submitted using the Tuitioned Programs Registration Form or by visiting the CEC Director's office.
