Welcome to Revolution Student Ministry at Long's Chapel UMC.  We want our youth ministry to be the catalyst in preparing our students to live spiritually bold lives in a culture desperately needing to see the difference that living for Christ makes.  The apostle Paul explains that we are in a spiritual battle and calls us all to “be alert, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong!”  We want our youth ministry to ignite students into spiritual revolution.  Our program is intended to be a training and proving ground for the next generation of more fully devoted followers of Christ.

The Revolution Youth Ministry has its own home, The Underground, directly below The Venue!  The Underground is a place for our youth AND their families to come and hang out in a casual and friendly environment.  The Underground serves as a multifunctional youth area where our youth are welcomed, befriended, and challenged to grow from the truth found in scripture and through the various activities and events offered.  Here are some opportunities for youth in grades 6-12.

Vertical Thought
Join us Sunday Morings at  9:40 as we gather to engage in thought provoking teaching centered in scripture! Vertical Thought is led by Becky and Bill Jarrell.  Middle Schoolers meet in the Underground; High Schoolers meet in room 102/105 near the Fellowship Hall.

 Confirmation Class
Our Confirmation class meets during the beginning of the year until May.  Confirmation is primarily for our youth in 6th grade but is open to any of our Middle School youth wanting to learn more about our faith and make a decision to follow Christ and become a member of the church. Our 2010 class is underway and meets in the conference room of the church office from 9:40-10:45.

5pm: Underground opens for hang out, snack bar, games
5:30pm: Eat dinner in Fellowship Hall; youth eat for only $4
6pm  Begin group worship, announcements, skits, icebreakers
6:45pm:  Middle School meet in Venue, High School meet in Underground
8pm: End

Every second Sunday, our youth have the opportunity to serve and help     at the Open Door.  Youth meet at the church just after Sunday School to head over to the Open Door.  Youth stay to serve until the lunch is over around 1pm.


 

The Encounter Element
Your invitation to stay connected with friends and God through deeper Bible study and awesome mentorship with amazing adult leaders.   The Encounter Element is designed for teenagers who desire further spiritual growth and challenge in a closer fellowship with friends who are same age and gender.  Students are given the opportunity for a very meaningful encounter with God and each other and allows for discussion, honesty, vulnerability, encouragement, and fun.

The Well
Meets on the last Sunday of the month in The Underground from 6pm-8pm.  The Well is for students and adults wanting more out of worship and deeper connection with God.  No games, no frills, no silliness.  The Well seeks to draw youth into a unique worship setting that involves music, prayer, and creativity.
