Gaither Homecoming Concert!!!

Long’s Chapel has a limited quantity of premium seats for the “sold out” Gaither Homecoming concert on March 27th at 6 p.m.  $60 per person includes luxury charter bus to and from the door of Asheville Civic Center.  This would be a perfect Christmas gift for that special someone on your list who is inspired and energized by the Gaither’s music.

Stop Hunger Now - 2010

In 2009, Long’s Chapel participated in the Stop Hunger Now program. Over 80 members of our congregation volunteered to assemble dehydrated meals to be sent throughout the world, providing nourishment to children who would receive the meals as part of their school’s lunch programs. For many of these children, it would be the only meal of their day. Through the generosity of donations and the caring service of our congregation, we packaged 23,000 meals as part of a day that saw the packaging of over 105,000 meals in total.

On February 20, 2010, there will be another assembly of volunteers to contribute to the Stop Hunger Now program. This volunteer group will include at least three schools (Tuscola High, Pisgah High, and Waynesville Middle) and Long’s Chapel Church (with other churches now being invited to participate). The students of these schools are already fund raising with car washes, competitions, and sales in order to meet the cost of the meals that they will assemble.

In 2009, Long’s Chapel raised $5,750 to fund the cost of the 23,000 meals assembled. In 2010, our goal is to assemble at least 25,000 meals, which means we need to raise $6,250 and assemble another volunteer group. The exact time and location on February 20 will be determined and communicated soon. This is a request for at least 90 service hearted volunteers to call the church office to register to participate. This is also a request for your financial support to help offset the cost of the meal materials. If your heart leads you to a contribution, please mark your check, “Stop Hunger Now” so that we can credit it to that account.

With your support, it should be another exciting and fulfilling experience for Long’s Chapel’s congregation. Thank you and may God bless you for caring and participating.

For your Mission Team,
Bill Staib, Chairman (questions - call 454-1076 and thanks again!)
